Sophie Trachte, leader of Valbowal and professor at the Faculty of Architecture at the University of Liège, had the pleasure and honor of sitting on the jury to select the finalists, winners and special mentions of the Materia Award 2025, and to present a prize to one of the five winners, on Saturday March 22, at the opening of the Materia exhibition.

The exhibition and book Materiaexhibition and book, which follow on from the two previous editions of Fibra Architectures and TerraFibra (hosted by ULiège's Faculty of Architecture between September and October 2024), are dedicated to contemporary architecture in earth, stone and plant fibers. They highlight the aesthetic properties, constructive advantages and environmental benefits of forty eco-constructions selected as part of the Materia award. Materia reflects a desire to highlight exemplary projects, emphasizing the complementary nature of materials. The aim is for these buildings to be recognized by the profession and the general public alike, highlighting the courage of the owners who have chosen these materials, the creativity of the designers and the expertise of the craftsmen and contractors...

The list of the forty Materia Award finalists can be viewed at .

Materia also gave two female researchers and five female architecture students the opportunity to find out more about the event. Their testimonials are available at this link.
